E3 Shutting Down After More Than Two Decades
The Electronic Entertainment Expo, better known as E3, is shutting down for good. The Entertainment Software Association, the trade group that ran the convention, announced that it has decided to bring E3, which first launched in 1995, to a close.
E3 was canceled in 2020 due COVID. ESA then held an all-virtual E3 event in June 2021, but decided not to bring back the virtual event for 2022 and 2023, making 2019 the last time E3 was held in person.
E3 posted a statement on its social media that read, “After more than two decades of E3, each one bigger than the last, the time has come to say goodbye. Thanks for the memories.”
