2025 Tesla Model Y Project Juniper: Unveiling Enhanced Design, Features, and Performance in America’s Best-Selling Electric SUV

The Tesla Model Y, America’s best-selling electric SUV, is set to receive its first significant update in 2025. Codenamed ‘Project Juniper’, this refresh will introduce a range of enhancements to the vehicle’s exterior, interior, and specifications.

Exterior Design

The 2025 Model Y is expected to feature a mildly updated exterior, with newly designed bumpers and wheels. The changes are not just for aesthetics; they are anticipated to enhance the vehicle’s aerodynamic efficiency, which could translate into better performance and range. The new Model Y may also offer two fresh colors: Ultra Red and Stealth Gray.

Interior & Features

The interior of the 2025 Model Y will reportedly receive the same treatment as the exterior: updates, but along the lines of what we saw in the restyled Model 3. The 15-inch central display will remain, with refreshed infotainment. The transmission controls should be integrated into the screen, so it will no longer be operated with the classic steering column-mounted lever. For rear passenger use, there will be an 8-inch monitor with controls for climate, ventilation, and entertainment to view multimedia content from major streaming platforms.

Specifications

The new Model Y will reportedly have a redesigned body, refreshed interiors, and upgraded powertrain that should make it more desirable than the current model. It will feature an 800v architecture for faster charging, bidirectional charging, a 48 volt architecture for higher powered accessories, and an ether loop for reduced wiring. The M3P battery, currently powering the high-performance Model 3, could inject a shot of adrenaline into the Model Y. Expect a range boost of at least 20%, pushing the Juniper toward the coveted 300-mile mark.

Safety Features

In European markets, Tesla may offer adaptive headlights on the new Model Y for enhanced safety.  Another safety upgrade on the new Model Y will likely be ‘Active Hood,’ designed to offer improved pedestrian safety.

Release Date

Tesla plans to begin production of the updated version in 2024. However, the Model Y Juniper is not expected to launch in North America this year. The electric SUV could go on sale in the U.S. as the 2025 Tesla Model Y. If there are no delays, expect customer deliveries to begin in early 2025.

Price

While the exact pricing details for the new Model Y are not yet confirmed, Tesla’s commitment to competitive pricing suggests that the starting price could be around $45,000.
